Find where people stop before buying
A funnel is a sequence of steps, such as visiting a page, viewing prices, starting checkout, and paying. It helps you find a step worth investigating.
An example journey
These fictional counts describe one starting group. Sixty people did not continue from the first step to prices. Ten did not continue from checkout to payment. Both can be worth investigating for different reasons.
| Step | People reaching it |
|---|---|
| Visit a page | 100 |
| View prices | 40 |
| Start checkout | 20 |
| Pay | 10 |
Explore a sample funnel
- Open Map & Funnels in the demo.
- Select a sample funnel from the list.
- Read the number at each step.
- Check what each percentage compares.
A percentage of the original group and a percentage of the previous step answer different questions.
Investigate one concrete question
If many people leave during checkout, try that experience on the devices they use. Look for an error, unexpected costs, or confusing wording.
Leaving does not always mean losing a sale. Someone may be researching or planning to return. A funnel helps locate a question; it does not diagnose the cause by itself.
