Explore the steps visitors take
Journeys shows the routes visitors actually recorded on your website. Start with the flow diagram to find a pattern, then open Full paths to read the exact routes behind it.

Open Journeys
- Choose your website and dates near the top of the dashboard.
The selected dates and dashboard-wide visitor filters apply to this view.
- Select Map & Funnels, then Journeys.
Use Funnels & map beside Journeys to return to the existing funnel and geography views.
- Read the Visits, Visitors and New purchases totals.
One person can have more than one visit. Linked purchase value is the value of new purchases connected to these visits under the journey rules; it is not multi-touch revenue credit.
Explore a flow
- Choose Channel, Source, Starting page or Outcome.
For example, choose Paid Ads, or AI search followed by ChatGPT. These controls affect Journeys only. Reset filters clears them.
- Change Steps and Top paths.
Steps controls how much of each route is drawn. Top paths limits the ranked routes shown. The coverage line states how many visits they represent; remaining paths are not drawn.
- Choose what to rank by.
Rank by Visits finds the busiest routes. Purchase value brings routes with linked new purchases to the top. The summary totals still cover all matching visits, while the coverage line describes only the drawn routes.
- Hover, focus or tap a connection or page.
The floating details show visits, unique visitors, new purchases, linked value and the share of this view. Related routes remain highlighted. Escape closes the details.
- Turn on Show goal steps when useful.
This includes recorded custom goals in their time order. It does not create goal tracking. Increase Steps if a route continues beyond the diagram.

Choose Journeys beside Funnels & map. The complete diagram below the controls includes page steps, recorded goals and purchase steps. The outlined controls are enlarged underneath.

Enlarged detail of the outlined area
- Include recorded goals
Show goal steps adds goals already recorded in each visit. It does not install goal tracking.
- Choose the visible depth
Increase Steps when More steps recorded appears. Full paths shows the complete route without this depth limit.
- Choose the ranking
Purchase value ranks paths by linked new-purchase value. Read the coverage line above the diagram; summary totals can cover more visits than the drawn paths.
Read the complete routes
Select Full paths to see the complete recorded sequence for each route. Use Previous and Next to browse every matching route. The table uses the same dates, ranking and filters as the diagram, but it is not limited by Steps or Top paths.
Choose With a new purchase to inspect buying visits. The example below includes all sources; select Source when you need a specific service. Read Visits, Visitors, New purchases and Linked value separately.
A shared page in the flow diagram can connect several routes. The Full paths table keeps those routes separate, so you can check the exact sequence rather than assume every visible combination happened. The diagram shows the selected period only; it does not overlay the dashboard comparison period.

The selected website, dates, purchase outcome and complete table provide the reporting context. This example includes all sources; choose a client's source before drawing a source-specific conclusion. The first table rows are enlarged below.

- Read one complete route
Read the sequence across one row. Unlike shared nodes in a flow, a table row preserves a distinct recorded route.
- Keep the counts distinct
Visits, Visitors and New purchases count different things. One person may have several visits; a visit may contain more than one purchase.
- Interpret linked value
Linked value covers new purchases connected to these visits. It excludes refunds and renewals and is not the source's multi-touch revenue credit.
Understand the boundaries
- A visit ends after 30 minutes without recorded activity. Consecutive reloads of the same page appear as one visual step; returning after another step still appears.
- A new purchase is linked once to the same tracked visitor's latest visit when a page view and activity in the preceding 30 minutes were recorded. Purchases without that context are not forced onto a path.
- Linked purchase value excludes refunds and renewals and is before fees. For the complete recorded revenue and refund totals, use the revenue report.
- Only steps inside the selected dates appear. Another device, missing consent, an untracked checkout or a date boundary can leave a route incomplete.
- No next step recorded means tracking has no later step in that visit. It does not confirm that someone left your site. More steps recorded means increase the diagram depth or open Full paths.
